Jackson Park, Destin, and Canton

For our fifth week of this summer, we welcomed our friends from Jackson Park, Destin, and Canton Churches of Christ. Even though this group consisted of members from three different churches, that didn’t stop them from opening their hearts and spreading god’s love to all of our children immediately upon their arrival. 

The theme for this week was Night at the Movies! Complete with a red carpet, popcorn, stage curtains, and plenty of actors. This week’s lessons consisted of skits depicting the events leading up to Jesus’ crucifixion. The group included props, full costumes for Jesus and each of his disciples, and complete scripts for each of the characters. The group’s VBS skit concluded with a depiction of Jesus’ crucifixion shown at the amphitheater on Wednesday afternoon. This week’s Night at the Movies theme introduced much-needed creativity and brought new life to our daily VBS. 

The work projects this week consisted of painting the wall for our campus and renovating a large part of our teen girl’s dorm. The group worked extremely hard helping us apply a fresh coat of paint to the wall that surrounds the city and made a lot of progress for our next group to continue. To renovate the teen girl’s dorm, the group brought in two new couches which added a breath of fresh air to the girl’s living room. Five new ceiling fans were installed throughout the dorm to help with the upcoming hot summer days. The hard workers of this group bought all these renovations and installed them in just one day! We can’t thank everyone enough for all of the hard work they put into helping our teen girls and can’t wait for our following groups to help finish the renovations that our girls need.
